Who can delete and restore deleted documents from the recycle bin

Updated over a week ago

Using an older version of VDR? This article covers features and functionality for the latest version of our VDR. If you're using an older version, please refer to Deleting files and folders [old VDR] for relevant information.

Deleting files and folders

Document deletion is available to project administrators and users with Manage permission.

To delete one or more documents, select them in the list and either:

  • Select Delete in the context menu.

  • Use hotkeys Ctrl+Delete on Windows or Command+Delete on macOS.

Upon deletion, documents are moved to the recycle bin of the project, and can be restored later if needed.

Restoring from recycle bin

The recycle bin is available only to project administrators. Hence, if the user with Manage permission accidentally deleted a document, only the administrator can restore it.

Select files and folders you'd like to restore, and click Restore on the top panel, or right-click on the selected document.

Upon restoring, you can also decide on permissions of the restored items:

  • No access: documents are hidden.

  • Inherit: set permissions of a destination folder.

In case the parent folder of one or more items no longer exists in the project, you will need to choose another folder in the structure.

⚠️ Documents deleted from the recycle bin cannot be restored.

Navigating recycle bin

The administrators can search documents in the recycle bin, as well as sort the documents by the following columns:

  • Index

  • Name

  • Deleted from

  • Deleted on

  • Deleted by

  • Size

  • Pages

  • Added on

  • ID
