Using the event details side panel

Learn how to use the event side panel for the Activity log

The Activity Log includes a details side panel that allows you to view structured information about each event directly within the page. This helps you quickly understand who performed an action, what object was affected, and the context in which it occurred.

Open and navigate event details

Open the side panel

To open the side panel, click any row in the Activity Log.The details panel will open on the right-hand side.

Switch between events

  • Click another row while the panel is open

  • The panel updates automatically with the selected event

Close the panel

  • Click the close icon or click outside the panel

Panel layout and information

The side panel presents event data in a structured format for easier investigation.

Panel contents

A concise overview of the event, including:

  • Action name as a header – displays the action name for the event.

  • Target object (if exists)

  • Author (user who performed the action) and Group

  • Action details (dependant on the event type)

Action details

This section can vary. You’ll find event-specific information depending on the activity type. Examples include:

  • Login and session events – session duration, IP address, device

  • Report activity – viewing, exporting, or scheduling

  • Subscriptions – delivery settings and status

  • Files and folders – document metadata

  • Permissions – access changes and configuration updates

Opening or closing the side panel does not affect filters, grouping, or scroll position

Export, email report, and subscription options remain available and unchanged
