Set additional security level for your project and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users by default

Updated over a week ago

To guarantee maximum security of users' access to your data room, we suggest enabling a 2-step verification setting.

This security level can be set up by the user during the iDeals account registration or changed any time later in the Security settings of their account.

The admin who invites a user can also decide whether this user should be able to log into the data room with or without the second factor.

If a user has enabled 2-step verification for their account, they will need to verify their identity by entering a one-time code to access any data room regardless of particular settings set up by the administrator.

Mandatory 2-step verification on a project level

As an additional feature, 2-step verification can be enabled on the project level for all users (both active and disabled users, including administrators). It is available in the data room settings menu – Security.

As soon as it is enabled for the specific data room, then:

  • The sign-in security setting for all users is automatically set to require a second factor.

  • All new users will be invited with the 2-step verification enabled by default.

  • Full administrators can't disable the 2-step verification on the user level or for themselves.

When a user disables 2-step verification in their account settings, it does not affect the settings applied on the project level. The user will still be required to verify their identity upon sign-in to the given project.

If you or your users face any issues receiving a one-time password via SMS, please refer to this article.
