Working with the encrypted USB archive

How to open and work with the project archive recorded on USB drive

Updated this week

Upon ordering a USB archive, we export your project contents into a password-protected ZIP archive that is recorded on a USB drive. Each recipient of the USB drives will get the password for the archive via email.

ℹ️ If you received a PIN-pad USB drive, follow the respective instructions on how to unlock your drive to access the archive:

All USB drives provided by Ideals are write-protected by default, meaning their content cannot be modified directly on the device. Extract the archive contents to your computer to amend documents and/or work passwordless.

To work with the ZIP archive and its contents, you need to:

  1. Use the recommended archive utility:

  2. Enter archive password: check email "Your USB drive shipment and decryption" from notifications@idealsvdr.com.

  3. Unarchive to the shortest directory: extract documents to either the Desktop or directly to any drive (disk C, D, etc.) to avoid creating long paths that are not supported by operating systems.

⚠️ Keep in mind that Windows Explorer (default app) does not support work with encrypted archives, and you may face errors upon opening documents.

ℹ️ If the project has long paths, the document names and paths are automatically truncated. You may find a corresponding report with original and modified names in the archive – Modified names report.xlsx. Learn more
